A new holder of the WWE NXT Women’s Championship was crowned during the Battleground event, last month. Tiffany Stratton won a tournament over the title to become the new champion and she’s now being touted as the next cornerstone figure of the women’s division. Over on this week’s NXT, she’s also received her first challenger for the title.
During this week’s WWE NXT, Thea Hail earned a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship by winning a Battle Royal. In the main event segment, this match went down where the participants were Dana Brooke, Jakara Jackson, Lash Legend, Elektra Lopez, Lola Vice, Tatum Paxley, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne, Cora Jade, Kiana James, Roxanne Perez, Lyra Valkyria, Fallon Henley, Yulisa Leon, Valentina Feroz, Brooklyn Barrow, Kelani Jordan, and Thea Hail.

Thea Hail wins battle royal on NXT
Following the elimination of Fallon Henley from the match, the final two in this battle royal were Jade and Brooke. But Thea Hail re-entered the match as she was never eliminated. Rather, Lash Legend sent her crashing into the steel stairs earlier in the bout to keep her down. As Jade and Brooke were caught up in the ropes, Hail came from behind and tossed them both over the top rope to win the contest and secure the WWE NXT Women’s Championship opportunity.
Upon getting this opportunity, Thea Hail celebrated this victory with fellow Chase U members and also with the debuting Cavinder Twins (Haley & Hanna). The Cavinders previously teased their appearance on WWE NXT via Twitter earlier in the night. Hanna added a caption that we “may see the new fav tag team in the ring tonight.”
Tiffany Stratton won WWE NXT Women’s Championship at Battleground
Tiffany Stratton is yet to comment about getting this new challenger for the title. At the age of just 24, she ended up winning the WWE NXT Women’s Championship in just her 26th televised match during NXT Battleground premium live event by defeating Lyra Valkyria in the finals of a tournament. She gained a clean pinfall win after landing the Prettiest Moonsault Ever on her opponent.
On her way to the NXT Women’s Championship win, Stratton also defeated former champion Roxanne Perez, along with former Toxic Attraction member and former WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Gigi Dolin to elevate her status.
