There have been some speculations about Charlotte Flair’s status with the WWE after an unprecedented incident from last week. It happened during the title exchange segment with Becky Lynch where the reigning Smackdown Women’s Champion was accused to go out of the script to let down her colleague.
It was noted by several reports that Charlotte Flair was escorted out of the building after the show which led the fans to believe that she and WWE were not on good terms. But this past episode witnessed her kicking off the show with a strong promo that was apparently an attempt to bring her back on track.

Then the 12-time champion seemingly reacted to these reports in a joking manner with “I heard a rumor!” gif from Saturday Night Live. This post and the heel promo on Smackdown to remind everyone of her status came as reminders of how much valuable talent she is for the WWE.

Charlotte Flair received another win on Smackdown
Moving into the Smackdown episode from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, WWE reportedly pulled Charlotte Flair from doing media interviews as they wanted to keep her away from any sort of controversies. She was supposed to promote the show on FOX but Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted on Twitter that WWE has pulled her from doing media. No reason was cited behind the withdrawal.
Following the Smackdown season premiere, a backstage confrontation went down between Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch as their Women’s Title Exchange segment went out of the script. The tension in the ring reportedly led to words between the two top superstars in the gorilla position. Flair left the building without even meeting Vince McMahon, per the reports.
A week later, Charlotte put out a challenge for young superstars that was answered by Shotzi. The two had a match with Charlotte picking up the victory with Sasha Banks sitting at ringside. Afterward, Shotzi turned heel by attacking Banks as she blamed Banks for the loss.
There’s no update on who Charlotte Flair’s first challenger for the Smackdown Women’s Title would be. Sasha Banks was supposed to get a title shot but the ongoing happenings have obviously included Shotzi into the scene. It would be interesting to see whether the former NXT star can grab a title match opportunity following this heel-turn.
