As reported earlier there was a backstage confrontation between Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. This was the biggest news coming out of the Women’s Title Exchange segment hosted in the main event slot. This was moderated in the ring by WWE Superstar Sonya Deville who was reportedly unhappy with the actions of Flair who also wanted to physically confront her.

Tensions in the ring reportedly led to a war of words between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, backstage and most of the heat was on Flair as she’s the one to instigate things. In an update to the situation, PWInsider reported that Sonya Deville was said to be “mad enough to want to fight Flair” at one point. Even these two also had an argument backstage at the arena.

It was noted that the confrontation between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch took place backstage in the Gorilla Position, in full view of WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, and Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard, among others. For all the rightful reasons, the confrontation received most of the attention initially, but Deville also had issues with Flair at SmackDown.

Charlotte Flair created an unwanted backstage chaos

“The Lynch confrontation took place in the gorilla position in full view of Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard, among others and received the lion’s share of attention initially, but Lynch was not the only person upset with Flair.

Two different sources described Sonya Deville as ‘mad enough to want to fight Flair’ and at one point, also having an argument with Flair backstage at SmackDown,” the source mentioned.

PWInsider added that Lynch’s argument with her former Four-Horsewomen partner was said to have been loud and angry with her. The current Raw Women’s Champion is described as standing up for herself after being disrespected. This must be the reason that Charlotte Flair has been blamed for the most part so far, with several people claiming that the situation started after Flair wanted Lynch’s title reign to look weaker.

As both Sonya Deville and Lynch were angry over the situation, things could have gone physical but it didn’t. Charlotte Flair was escorted out of the building and to avoid further consequences, she was not backstage for AEW Dynamite in Orlando over the weekend to accompany her fiancée, Andrade. But Flair and Lynch may just have to cross paths again at Survivor Series 2021 given the Champion vs. champion theme.
