Last night’s SmackDown hosted a big match between two former Women’s Champions who had an illustrious rivalry in the past. It was Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks on the show which had the Hall of Famer, Ric Flair in attendance on her daughter’s corner. Expectedly, SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bayley was out to assist Banks during the match.

Charlotte Flair took control of the match despite the distractions provided by Bayley throughout the contest. She delivered a beautiful top rope Moonsault on both Sasha Banks and Bayley to keep them grounded. Her attempt to lock in the Figure Eight came to an end when Bayley interfered and disqualified the match. The duo started double-teaming on Flair until Carmella ran out to make the save. She delivered a Superkick on Banks whereas Flair took out Bayley with a Big Boot. The altercation indicates this rivalry is yet to continue on SmackDown.

The heel-turn by Bayley, a few weeks ago has been effective enough to make her championship reign look relevant. It started back at Money in the Bank pay-per-view where Bayley made history by cashing in the contract on the same night. Despite the fans’ support, the babyface run has not been that much effective that must be the reason why the creative team thought of the character switch.
The comeback of Bayley’s best friend, Sasha Banks has also acted as a positive factor behind this heel-turn. WWE officials wanted to present the team of Sasha and Bayley as the strongest heel duo from the women’s division. This helped the SmackDown Women’s Champion to retain her title by pulling off some mean tactics. So, WWE.com hinted the feud against Charlotte Flair may continue,
“The SmackDown Women’s Champion retained her title by stripping the pad and sending Charlotte Flair head-first into the exposed turnbuckle. Immediately after clinching the win, Bayley grabbed her title and sprinted out of the ring and up the ramp with no intentions of entertaining The Queen’s reaction. Will Bayley’s questionable tactics come full circle on SmackDown LIVE?”
The heel tactics of the champion continued even on SmackDown but she couldn’t prevail since Charlotte Flair had some backups. Carmella appeared out of nowhere to save her which makes the storyline interesting. Could she be the new insertion in the championship storyline? We’ll find out in the following weeks that leads us to the big debut of SmackDown on FOX Network.
