Former WWE NXT star Chelsea Green has arrived at the Ring of Honor promotion. Last night, she made a surprise appearance at the ROH Best In The World PPV event confirming that she is now with ROH. However, the former Knockouts Champion can’t be involved in the action, just yet since she isn’t medically cleared to compete due to a hand injury.

During her final TV appearance on SmackDown, back in November, Chelsea Green broke her wrist that eventually needed surgery to get things fixed. Per her words, her broken arm is still healing. But she plans on watching every women’s tournament match that is currently ongoing in the ROH promotion.

Chelsea Green added that she is going to bring the ROH women’s division to the top of the wrestling world as she plans on starting wrestling in about a month. This women’s division also has another released former WWE Superstar Maria Kanellis in the board of directors position who is overseeing things in the tournament as an official.

Chelsea Green was among those who were released by WWE, earlier this year due to budget cuts while Maria was released, last year due to the same reason. The upcoming Women’s Championship Tournament for ROH begins on the weekend of July 31 which will continue through the summer. By the end of this tourney, the promotion brand of the WWE will be crowing a brand new ROH Women’s Champion.

In an update from Fightful Select, Chelsea Green isn’t under contract with ROH, for now, but she will work the TV tapings this week. It appears that she was able to get herself free from WWE’s non-compete clause, earlier than expected.

Chelsea Green Joins Ring Of Honor Promotion Following WWE Departure 2

Chelsea Green signed with WWE NXT in 2018 after having a successful run with Impact Wrestling. After spending time in NXT, she made her main roster debut back on the November 13th, 2020 edition of SmackDown as she competed in a Fatal Four-Way match to determine the final representative of the SmackDown Women’s Team SmackDown at Survivor Series.

WWE originally planned Chelsea Green to have the win in the match also featuring Natalya, Liv Morgan, and Tamina. But after Green’s injury, the finish saw Morgan pin Tamina for the win. Following this devastating debut, the former Hot Mess of Impact Wrestling never made it back to WWE TV as she was released from the contract.
