Cody Rhodes continued his winning streak at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 when he pinned Seth Rollins for another win. This marked his fifth TV win since the surprise return at Wrestlemania 38. These consecutive wins have already helped him to become a top superstar on Monday Night Raw and he’s now ready to move on from Rollins following the latest premium live event.
Cody Rhodes rolled up Seth Rollins and held on to the tights to secure the victory which was supposed to be a way to stretch the ongoing feud for weeks to follow. However, the winner of Backlash is now intending to pursue championship gold in the WWE.
Following his win over The Visionary at Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash, The American Nightmare made it clear he’s got his eye on winning the top prize in the industry.
“This could have been the night where I fall off,” Cody Rhodes admitted. “This could have been where my honeymoon phase [since WWE comeback] was over. It truly could have been, and maybe there are some wrestlers here who don’t want my run to keep going. But it’s going to keep going. I have a specific goal that we have already talked about. This is unfinished business for me, and I have to get it done.”

Cody Rhodes mentioned in his promos since returning to the WWE that his father hasn’t been able to capture the top prize in sports entertainment despite being associated with it for such a long time. For his father, he’s willing to do anything to become the world champion, one day.
Cody Rhodes also noted how he should move on from the ongoing feud despite it being a lame roll-up win. He concluded the conversation by wishing Happy Mother’s Day to his mother, his wife, and all the mothers in the world.
There’s no concrete update available on what WWE plans for the former Intercontinental Champion following Wrestlemania Backlash. Next, Hell in a Cell will be waiting on the WWE PLE calendar in June followed by Money in the Bank in early July.
