Since coming back to the WWE, Cody Rhodes has been going through an incredible winning streak and that continued at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. For two straight WWE Network Specials, the former AEW Superstar was able to defeat one of the top superstars of the entire WWE roster via clean pinfall.
Cody Rhodes was able to steal his second victory over Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 in the opening match of the premium live event. It was also The American Nightmare who kicked off the main show in a rematch from his WWE WrestleMania 38 encounter against The Visionary.

The only difference from ‘Mania was that Seth always knew that Cody was going to be his opponent, this time, unlike Mania where Cody was presented as a mystery opponent. This time, the win came via a roll-up, as Cody kept on holding Seth’s tights for the win. This trick should be used by Rollins in the storylines to point out how Cody cheated his way to victory at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022.

Wrestlemania Backlash 2022: Rhodes vs. Rollins II was a show-stealer
Apart from the finish, Cody vs. Seth part II was another brilliant matchup at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. The in-ring chemistry between the two has only been upped due to the fact that these two have been facing each other in countless matches on both Raw and Smackdown dark segments in recent times.
In all of those, Cody picked up wins to start an undefeated streak. Over on TV, the former Intercontinental Champion participated in five matches, so far and won each one of them. His last loss on WWE TV occurred on May 19, 2016, at the hands of former WWE Superstar, Zack Ryder. Back then, Cody used to portray the character of Stardust.
At Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, Cody featured in some major spots in the match including a huge superplex. Seth also brought plenty of offensive moves, and at one point he almost got the pinfall win after nailing a Pedigree on Cody. But the former WWE Champion was not able to get the victory as Cody continued to kick out of all those offenses. The finish of the match appeared to be a soft one for some of the WWE Universe members as it had a simple roll-up.
That also suggests that WWE might just want to continue with the storyline following Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. More updates on the angle should be given on this week’s Raw.
