Trinity debuted in Impact Wrestling on the May 4 episode of Impact, which was taped on April 29. Since debuting in the promotion, the former Smackdown Women’s Champion had remained unpinned. Trinity went after Deonna Purrazzo soon after debuting on Impact
Soon after the debut on Impact, Trinity immediately made it clear that she was going after the Knockouts Championship, which brought out the champion Deonna Purrazzo who also immediately accepted the challenge, being a fighting champion. It was during the June 1 episode of IMPACT on AXS TV that Trinity would formally lay down the challenge to the now-former Knockouts Champion.
Back in April of this year, Deonna Purrazzo started her third reign as the Impact Knockouts World Champion with a victory over Jordynne Grace at the Rebellion pay-per-view. With this win, The Virtuosa moved on and climbed to the second spot in the list of combined reigns for Knockouts World Champions, surpassing Mickie James who was the champion with the same belt for 445 days across five reigns.
Only Gail Kim is ahead of Deoona Purrazzo in terms of combined days of reigns with the Impact Knockouts Championship. The latter has the sole intention of toppling Kim but she would have to wait more to achieve that milestone.
Meanwhile, the win at Slammiversary marked the first championship gold for Trinity since walking out of the WWE alongside Mercedes Mone, fka Sasha Banks at a point when they were the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Mone has also won the IWGP Women’s Championship after joining NJPW.
