WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is moving towards the next title defense of his career at SummerSlam 2020. After having a dominant run with the title, this one match is going to be an acid test for him as he faces The Viper Randy Orton while defending the belt. While promoting the match he’s doing conversations with media.
In one of them, Drew McIntyre picked a fight with The Rock. He spoke with Mark Hendry of The Glasgow Times the past week and mentioned how he’d love to face The Great One in a WrestleMania main-event match. Interestingly though, the champion has enough reasons to be irate on the former franchise player of the company.

Drew McIntyre Picks The Rock For A Dream WWE Fight
Drew McIntyre remembered how The Rock once praised him during a TMZ interview. He was doing nothing in the WWE, a couple of years ago when The People’s Champion chose him to be the next breakout star of the company. The endorsement meant a lot to the current title-holder and he lived up to the expectations. But that feeling had also got bitter, the aftermath.

During the interview, Drew McIntyre also looked back to the time when The Rock endorsed Dolph Ziggler ahead of one of the recent title matches of Drew with Ziggler at WWE’s Horror Show at Extreme Rules.
Rock mentioned on a custom photo of Ziggler holding the WWE Title that he wanted it to be true. Drew made negative comments on that after which his “phone exploded.” This should set up a dream match with The Brahma Bull at the Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland.
“I thought, ‘What would Rock do in this situation?’ If this was 1998/99, what would he say? I thought, screw it. I’m the champion, I don’t back down to anyone, even The Rock. My phone exploded. I’d love to face The Rock anywhere, but if there was one place on earth it would be a WrestleMania at Ibrox. That would be great for personal reasons. It would probably have to be Hampden, we’d need somewhere massive. If he chose to come back for a match, as the biggest Box Office attraction in the world, wow. Come on, Rock, give me that match,” Drew McIntyre urged.
While the proposed match seems to be a great offering to the professional wrestling fans, it has the least chance to happen, in reality since The Rock isn’t returning to the ring, anytime soon.
Drew McIntyre won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, earlier this year which took place at the Performance Center with no fans in the crowd due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he had several successful title defenses to reach SummerSlam as a strong champion.
