Rey Mysterio remains a continuous fixture on WWE TV ever since his return to the company in 2018. Except for some injury-related reasons, he’s been featured in the mid-card scene of both WWE Raw and Smackdown feuding with the heels. Plus, he’s in charge of elevating his son Dominik Mysterio to the top level. But he’s not been involved in something big in a long time.
During a recent appearance on The Kurt Angle Show, WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Kurt Angle discussed the biggest little man in WWE history. The two legends had major praise for Rey Mysterio as the latter continues to entertain the audience on Raw. Edge believes that the Mexican veteran does receive the credit but he deserves way more than that.
“That dude, for his style and what he’s done, to still even be in there at all, let alone to be at the level he’s performing at — he just did a Hell in a Cell with Roman Reigns,” Edge stated. “I mean, the guy, the term legend is thrown around a lot. The dude’s a legend. He is a living legend, and one day, people will fully, fully latch on to how special Rey Mysterio is.”

Rey Mysterio may get appreciation after retirement
The eleven-time world champion added that Rey Mysterio will perhaps only be appreciated when he retires from wrestling. People will understand the need for a high-flyer on a show when he won’t be there anymore to perform inside the squared circle. However, Edge did mention how his colleagues and peers always appreciate the fact that they have someone like Rey on the roster.

The Rated R Superstar also mentioned how Rey Mysterio went on to become successful despite his size and caused a major shift in pro-wrestling with his wrestling style,
“There’s [his size], too. Think about all the obstacles and hurdles that he has knocked down, and how he changed an industry. Because without him, I don’t think Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) breaks through. You know what I mean? And a lot of talents like that, I think Rey Mysterio is the reason that happened. He proved it to work and people would buy it and people would pay to see it.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
Rey Mysterio is currently gunning for the RAW Tag Team Championships with his son Dominik. They will soon challenge the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) to determine the number one contenders for Team RK-Bro’s RAW Tag Team Titles. Earlier this year, he was seen in singles competition, too by challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship inside Hell in a Cell.
