More than three years ago, Edge shocked the professional wrestling universe by coming out of retirement in 2020 by entering the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Some might believe that’s been perhaps the greatest return of all time in the history of the WWE. Since then, he had delivered great matches with the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, The Miz, AJ Styles, and more.
It’s no secret that Edge was unhappy over the way he had to retire in 2011, out of nowhere due to a neck concussion despite retaining his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 27. The fact that he never got to retire on his own terms, always pinched him to come back to the squared circle which he did in 2020 and entertained the fans to a whole different level.

However, Edge is turning 48 and admittedly the windows are inching closer for him when it comes to wrestling capacity. Although, he doesn’t show any sort of ring rust due to age, to this date, the veteran wants to retire in the best shape. Also, one of his last wishes is to take part in his final match in front of his hometown in Toronto, later this year.
That being said, we can only assume that the retirement date for the 11-time world champion isn’t very far. During their latest Live Event outing in Edge’s hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it was announced that WWE would return to the city for a live edition of Smackdown on August 18, 2023, which could be the end of the line for the WWE Hall of Famer.

Edge hinted at retirement in the summer of 2023
Last August following a main event match on Raw, Edge declared that he wants to come back to Toronto for one last time, the following summer in 2023. This is what he had exactly stated which led us to believe that he wants to hang up his boots for good after August,
“I can’t wait to come back one last time – one last time, here in Toronto. I’m looking at the calendar, we usually come here in August. So next time in August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you… and in a perfect world, we all say goodbye to each other that night.” (quotes courtesy Metro.co.uk)
Edge is an eleven-time world champion in the WWE who has done everything in his career including Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank wins, and main-eventing Wrestlemania. Besides, he also holds the accolade of holding the most number of titles in the company with the number being, 31.
