With Elimination Chamber 2023 approaching closer, superstars are remembering some of the most infamous moments created around the structure. WWE Hall of Famer Edge created one such moment at No Way Out 2009 where he made history by competing in two Chamber matches and ended up winning one of those to clear his path to the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania.
At the beginning of the night on No Way Out 2009, Edge walked out into the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match as the champion and dropped the belt within a few minutes. However, Edge walked out of the World Heavyweight Championship Chamber match as the new titleholder. This is also a record given that someone ended up winning the match when he was not scheduled to compete in the match in the first place.

Edge came out when Kofi Kingston was making his entrance, attacked him with a Con-Chair-To, thereby stole his spot inside the Elimination Chamber, and went on to become the new world champion. While reminiscing this iconic moment, Kingston tweeted out a screenshot of the occurrence and stated, “Never forget… @EdgeRatedR.”
The Rated-R Superstar responded to The New Day member and he literally fell short in words, “Kofi…I mean… ok, I got nothin.”

Kofi Kingston still remembers what Edge did to him at Elimination Chamber 2009
This match was originally supposed to be Kofi Kingston’s first major world title opportunity on a WWE pay-per-view but Edge squandered that one. Kingston eventually had to wait for one more decade to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 by defeating Daniel Bryan in a storyline that was dubbed as Kofi-Mania. En route to the Show of Shows, he also delivered a lifetime performance at Elimination Chamber 2019.
Despite Kingston having some great memories in his career, he might have been upset over what transpired 14 years ago. On that particular night, Edge showed the most sadistic side of his as he was desperate to keep a world title by his side after getting pinned by Jeff Hardy in the first Elimination Chamber match. Eventually, Triple H defeated The Undertaker to become the new champion.
Then in the world championship Elimination Chamber match, Edge eliminated both John Cena and Rey Mysterio to capture the eighth world title in his WWE career. Moving on, Edge went on to defend his world title at WrestleMania 25 in a triple threat against Big Show and John Cena. As noted above, Edge is the only wrestler in WWE history to compete in two Chamber matches on the same night.
