The fact that Emma has been away from the WWE for a long time doesn’t wipe out her wrestling tenure that’s lasted for almost two decades. Some of the fans may have only followed her career in the WWE but in reality, she had performed in the indies as well as in the Impact Wrestling promotion where she had captured the only championship belt of her career.

Back in the fold as a WWE Superstar, Emma recently discussed her two decades of professional wrestling experience during an appearance on the Out of Character podcast with Ryan Satin. It was revealed that her journey in professional wrestling in order to become a WWE Superstar started at a tender age.

After seeing the poster of a wrestling show, Emma was admittedly interested in the world of professional wrestling,

“I kind of knew I wanted to wrestle. I remember I saw a poster for a local show up and I instantly said to my mom, ‘Oh, if they have a show then they must have training, so you need to take me to training’. And she was just like, ‘Absolutely not.’ I think I was even younger then, like eleven probably when I first tried to go.”

The superstar with the real name Tenille Dashwood then promoted her appearance on Ryan Satin’s show with a post on Twitter with the caption stating, “I’ve been wrestling for 20 years ? Crazy!”

Emma started in the WWE with NXT but under-delivered on main roster

Back in 2012, Emma started her WWE career in the same batch of NXT to that as the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion Paige. Just like the latter, she was also introduced to the main roster in 2014 but a dud run and an unfortunate shoplifting incident forced WWE to cut her out of the roster. Moving on, she was brought back into the fold but she never really got the chance to showcase her potential on Raw/Smackdown.

Emma spent six years with the company before being released in 2017. She then returned to the company earlier this year to accept SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey’s Open Challenge. The 33-year-old returnee took the champion to the limit but she ultimately came up short after tapping out to the Armbar submission.

After her WWE release, Emma had a short stint in Ring of Honor as she was part of the ROH Women of Honor Title 2018 tournament. A year later, Emma made her All Elite Wrestling debut at AEW All Out 2019. As one of the participants in the Casino Battle Royale. After that one-off appearance, she headed back to Impact Wrestling to win the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Titles.
