What To Expect From Tonight’s WWE Smackdown: August 22, 2017

Tonight will mark the last night of the great Summerslam week in 2017. WWE will certainly want to finish the night on a big note by giving the global fans in attendance another special episode of Tuesday Night. Smackdown should not be in a hurry considering that the next brand exclusive PPV from their side is almost a month away.

Next time, the blue brand will host a PPV will be the Hell in a Cell event in the month of October. So, the storylines will gradually unfold. Tonight’s Smackdown will be hosted by the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In the main event of Smackdown at Summerslam, Jinder Mahal has been able to retain his championship again playing mind games with his opponent. The Singh Brothers turned out to be the difference makers, yet again by providing the distraction. This allowed Jinder to connect with the Khallas and capitalize.

Now, the storyline between Nakamura and Jinder barely started prior to the Summerslam PPV. So, there’s no way that it is going to end like this. Rather, from now onwards, The Artist will be focused more on earning the coveted prize that will make Jinder’s days as the champion, numbered.

Naomi was dethroned by Natalya from her championship reign, abruptly and that too happened in a clean match. It was another interesting booking from the WWE creative from Smackdown to make the veteran female wrestler, the champion, again. Now, it will be interesting to see whether it gets over quick or at least stays for some time.

The Usos were given the tag-team titles, rightfully at Summerslam. There is no one in the locker room that is having more momentums that Jimmy and Jey Uso. So, they deserved the titles, badly. Now, it will be interesting to see whether the rematch should be booked at the earliest or not.

Randy Orton literally buried Rusev at Summerslam by picking up the shortest win at the event via an RKO. It is likely that the Bulgarian Brute will be fired up even more from now onwards to prove his potential and go after the Viper to dismantle him.

After what transpired at the United States title match, it is likely that Owens will definitely go after Shane McMahon. This will be his next feud after being done with AJ Styles. On the other hand, Styles is supposed to get a newer opponent.
