Extreme Rules 2022 builds started to unfold from this week’s episode of Smackdown that also brought the fallouts from Clash at the Castle 2022. As reported earlier, the Wrestling Observer already hinted that Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not currently scheduled to compete at the event set for October 8th.
So, he wasn’t present on this week’s Smackdown, as well as being a part of Extreme Rules 2022 storylines. In his absence, The Usos and Sami Zayn introduced the newest member of The Bloodline: Solo Sikoa. They were all having a good time until Drew McIntyre interrupted and beat the hell out of them with a Steel Chair in hand. Drew also cut a promo as he wanted to compete against Solo in a match, later the night.
Roman Reigns Set To Achieve Big Milestone At WWE Wrestlemania 39?
In the main event of WWE Clash at the Castle 2022, Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This wasn’t a clean win as Solo Sikoa (younger brother of The Usos) from NXT 2.0 attacked McIntyre. Capitalizing on the distraction, The Tribal Chief ended up hitting the Spear and pinning McIntyre to pick up the win.
Hence, in the main event match of Smackdown, Drew McIntyre wanted to seek revenge on Solo Sikoa. But the main event match ended in a DQ after Karrion Kross interfered and thus indicated a bout could be scheduled against McIntyre at Extreme Rules 2022.
A non-title feud to headline Extreme Rules 2022
The Usos tried to distract McIntyre, during the match but The Street Profits rushed down the ring to neutralize the scene. Drew then connected with a Claymore Kick when Solo fell out of the ring. After this, Karrion Kross (with Scarlett) appeared and choked out McIntyre with the Kross Jacket submission to close the show.
That being said, it’s evident that the non-title feud between these two will fill up the void of Roman Reigns for the time being. According to Xero News, WWE has already scheduled Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross as the main event of Extreme Rules 2022 and that should be announced in the near future.
WWE Extreme Rules 2022 Premium Live Event will be held on Saturday, October 8 at the Nationwide Center in Columbus, Ohio. Only the below match for the night has been announced by the WWE, thus far,
– Smackdown Women’s Championship – Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
