Another new championship is going to be introduced for the All Elite Wrestling promotion starting with the NJPW x AEW Forbidden Door 2022. At the very beginning of this year, AEW brought the AEW TBS Champion and crowned the very-first champion in jade Cargill who is yet to drop the belt. Now, yet another belt is making its way to the company.
During the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that the All Atlantic Championship is the newest title that’s on the way to the programming. All of the male athletes of the AEW roster will be able to chase the belt starting with Forbidden Door 2022. It’s been announced that the final two participants of the tournament bracket will move into AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022 to determine the inaugural All Atlantic Champion. The main event of that PPV night will also feature a singles bout to determine the interim AEW World Champ who will hold the belt until the original champion CM Punk makes his return to AEW.
The expectation is that the then interim AEW Champion will go against CM Punk in a match to establish who the Undisputed AEW World Heavyweight Champion would be. Punk won the world title at the recently bygone AEW Double or Nothing PPV event from Adam Page. He was supposed to defend his belt against NJPW’s Tanahashi at Forbidden Door 2022 event but the undisclosed injury forced him to go into a hiatus.
