WWE NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament finale was conducted during last night’s WWE NXT 2.0 tapings from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. In the finale, Roxanne Perez (fka Rok-C in ROH) defeated Tiffany Stratton to become the first-ever WWE NXT Women’s Breakout winner.
In the finishing moments, Stratton lifted and planted Perez with a powerbomb then went for the cover but Perez kicked out. Stratton went for the middle rope and looked for a moonsault but Perez tripped her down. Stratton launched herself off the top rope but Perez eventually planted her with her finisher for the win.
With this win, Perez has earned a contract and can cash in that opportunity for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship at any time. That being said, the reigning champion Mandy Rose now has a huge target on her back. On her way to the finale, Perez had defeated Kiana James in the first round and Lash Legend in the semi-final round. As for Stratton, she replaced Nikkita Lyons in the tournament and defeated Fallon Henley in the semi-finals.
WWE NXT 2.0: Raw Superstar Makes Surprise Appearance
Roxanne Perez had already been a champion before coming to WWE NXT
Back in March, WWE announced that Rok-C, real name Carla Gonzalez, became a part of the latest WWE Performance Center Class under the name of Roxanne Perez. The 20-year-old superstar made her in-ring debut with an April episode of the WWE NXT Level Up taping. Now with this latest tournament win, she becomes closer to the women’s championship.
Before coming to WWE NXT, Roxanne started training at 13 years old, under WWE Hall of Famer Booker T at 16, and then received training from former AAA luchador Daga and MLW luchador Gino Medina. She worked for Reality of Wrestling from 2018 to 2021 following which she started appearing for Ring of Honor in their revamped Women’s Division.
By the name of Rok-C, the talented wrestler would defeat Miranda Alize at ROH Death Before Dishonor XVIII to win a tournament to become the inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion. She had defeated Angelina Love, Sumie Sakai, and Quinn McKay (WWE’s Kelly Kincaid) in the tournament. But she eventually dropped that belt to another former WWE NXT Superstar Deonna Purrazzo last fall as she was about to sign a contract with the WWE.
