Former franchise player of WCW, Goldberg is definitely not done with his WWE stint as stated in recent interviews. He competed last at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event to squash Dolph Ziggler in a short matchup.
This was much-needed following the worst outing at WWE Super ShowDown in June 2019 against The Undertaker. The comeback match at the biggest event of the summer has given back his strong status.
CM Punk lashed out on Hulk Hogan
With that being said, it appears to be a no-brainer that WWE will bring back Goldberg whenever they feel so or a marquee match would be needed.
The backstage plans around him have already been started if the latest reports are any indications. This would be an effort to let him appear at WrestleMania after a gap of three years.
According to the reports of Slice Wrestling, Vince McMahon and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg are having discussions regarding the latter one’s return to WrestleMania 36 in 2020.
The event is set to emanate at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida and The Boss intends to bring back the part-timers for the show, as always.
Goldberg is the front-runner in the list after openly admitting that he will be competing in more matches if WWE gives him a call.
At this point, the wrestlers that are being discussed for a WrestleMania 36 program with Goldberg are the following:
– Drew McIntyre
– Braun Strowman
– Roman Reigns
Chances of seeing Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns is much higher at this point since this match has been in the pipeline for a long time.
Plus, an additional reason has also been stated why WWE may host this match, probably at WrestleMania 36,
“It should be noted that while Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns was being planned for 2020 earlier this year, WWE has now begun discussing The Fiend vs. Roman Reigns for the main event of WrestleMania 36.
If WWE decides to move Reigns out of the match with The Fiend to protect Reigns from getting booed, then we’re most probably going to get “Spear vs. Spear” with Goldberg vs. Reigns.” (courtesy wwfoldschool.com)
We should add in this context that the next edition of a Saudi Arabia PPV happens much earlier than expected which is in February 2020.
So you never know whether Goldberg shows up to perform on that show and sets up an early program with Roman Reigns on SmackDown.
