What Happened Once The WWE Backlash PPV Was Over: May 21, 2017
May 22, 2017 at 3:41 PM
It was an early return for the Backlash PPV, last night. Last year, WWE Smackdown brought back the tradition of this event by conducting it as the first brand-exclusive PPV, ever. The latest 2017 edition was not any different, either. It will be one of those WWE PPVs worth remembering for a long time.
Quite expectedly, the night was headlined by the new WWE champion, Jinder Mahal. He had stayed true to his promise made earlier to leave the Backlash PPV with the most coveted prize in the sports entertainment, today. With a little help from the Singh Brothers, he has earned the accolade by pinning the thirteen time WWE champion, Randy Orton.

Following the title win, he appeared in an exclusive interview with on WWE where he delivered a strong message to the United States. Until now, they have overlooked the Indians. But, now that he holds the title around his waist, he warned the USA natives to get used to it by promising that he will put India on the pro-wrestling map.

The Uso brothers were successful to retain their titles and so they too cut a big promo upon their win. It is expected that the New Day will arrive on the June 30th episode of Smackdown Live to start a feud with them. It will also make the Smackdown tag titles relevant, once again.

Meanwhile, there’s a bad news for the AJ Style’s fans. He got caught in the cables left at the commentary table to lose his US title match at Backlash. With an added attack from Kevin Owens to him, he might have suffered a leg injury.

He was spotted at the backstage with the wounded leg. The officials were helping him to get to the medical facility. Hopefully, we will get an update on his condition on this Tuesday.
The King of Strong Styles was all smiling after picking up his first PPV win. He clarified how he plans to carry the momentum forward.
