One more WWE Stadium Show is expected to go down, this year as the Superstars could be heading down under in Australia to present an extravaganza just like they did in the fall of 2018. In the reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it has been reported that the state government of Western Australia is “negotiating” with WWE to run a major event in the latter part of 2023.
Dave Meltzer noted that if the deal remains successful, then the likely city to host this WWE Stadium Show would be Perth, which recently hosted a UFC show. UFC hosting shows outside the USA are efforts where local governments bring in the MMA company for tourism or other reasons. That would be the same case if WWE is called in on Perth as it would bring a ton of attraction to Perth.

WWE’s base zone may be in the USA but they have a solid history with Australia with a passionate fanbase always supporting them. In 2002, over 56,000 fans attended Colonial Stadium for the Global Warning WWE Stadium Show, which saw The Rock defeat Triple H and Brock Lesnar to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event.

A WWE Stadium Show took place in Australia four years ago
It would be over 14 years later that WWE filmed content in Australia from the NXT roster matches for NXT in December 2016 that would air the next month. Moving on, the biggest WWE Stadium Show in Australia took place when 70,000 fans filled up the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2018 for Super ShowDown. Apart from these WWE has also hosted several untelevised tours in Australia with the most recent being in 2019.
Following that shows in Australia came to an end of the obvious COVID-19-related protocols. If the upcoming WWE Stadium Show does take place then it will end a four-year gap for many of the Australian WWE Superstars in NXT and on the main roster to perform on their home soil.
On the main roster, Superstars like Emma and Bronson Reed belong to Australia’s home alongside the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley. From NXT talents like Duke Hudson, Xyon Quinn, Indi Hartwell, and Grayson Waller call Australia their home.
