Saraya has gone through a lot in her personal life and wrestling career from the very beginning. She had a full-length feature film planned for her for the journey that she had from the United Kingdom, all the way to the United States for an entry into the WWE. That indeed was a fairytale as she ended up winning the Divas Championship on the first night on the main roster.
Since that night after Wrestlemania 30 in 2014, Saraya as Paige went on to establish herself as the anti-Diva in the WWE who knew a lot about technical wrestling. Unfortunately, a bad neck forced her to stop wrestling at the tender age of just 25 but she eventually found her groove back after going to All Elite Wrestling, last year.
Due to her popular persona on the internet as well as on TV, AEW officials didn’t want to utilize her as a villain which her intention always was. While speaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes, Saraya spoke about her debut on AEW Dynamite.

Saraya wanted to be a heel in AEW from the get-go
The former WWE Divas Champion always wanted to flourish as a heel and she wanted it to happen, right out of the gate after AEW’s debut. But due to AEW’s creative plans, she had to wait a bit before that heel-turn finally occurred.
“I wanted to be a heel straight out the gate, and they told me I had to be a babyface. When I walked out, the first time I walked out, and I was like ‘I understand, but I just flourish better as a heel’,” Saraya claimed.
“If I have to get comfortable I’d rather be a heel first because it’s easy to get people to hate you than like you, and so that I can just get in my stride and not be so offended if people are talking sh*t about me. So I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m just doing my job.’ You know what I mean?”

Back in July of 2022, WWE decided not to renew Saraya’s contract which allowed her to move to AEW during the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite back in September 2022. Initially, she started feuding with Dr. Britt Baker as a babyface against a heel.
The dimension soon changed as the two exchanged their characteristics. Saraya got herself aligned with fellow WWE alumni – Ruby Soho and Toni Storm to form The Outcasts which is the top faction of the AEW Women’s Division.
