Toni Storm is a globally acclaimed female superstar who’s been on a wrestling spree since she wasn’t even an adult. After coming to the WWE, she managed to find success in the initial days but that didn’t help her in the long run. The successful stint in NXT UK wasn’t carried forward on NXT or the main roster. Eventually, that led to her release from the company.
By the end of 2021, Toni Storm was released by WWE and the belief was that the superstar herself requested the release which was granted. However, there’s more to the story. A previous report from Bodyslam.net claimed that she never asked for her departure from the company as she simply quit after working a triple threat match at a house show.
Toni Storm Wanted To Stop The ‘Interim Nonsense’ Around AEW Women’s Title
Toni Storm had an out of body experience in WWE
While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Toni Storm went into detail about that happening. During her time in WWE, she admittedly felt like having an ‘out of body’ experience in the company. As a child, she obviously dreamt of coming to the WWE but after sitting for months in catering, she realized that this place wasn’t for her.

“I just freaked out and went home. There was a moment where I realized it wasn’t for me. As much as I might have romanticized it as a child and thought it was my dream and what I have to accomplish, I just realized, maybe it’s not and maybe it’s not the place for me,” Toni Storm continued.
“Who am I to take someone else’s spot that actually wants to be here? That’s not fair. I’m still going to be a wrestler. I spent years wrestling before WWE and I loved it. All there is to go back to is something that I love, how bad can it be? There was really no point in going further.” (quotes courtesy Fightful)
The Australian superstar added that she didn’t leave the WWE on bad terms that perhaps left the doors open for a future comeback. She has all the respect for all the company’s talents who are hardworking but she didn’t feel wanted around there. Hence, quitting was the best option that Toni Storm could do to bring back all the love in wrestling.
Following her nightmare experience in the WWE, Toni Storm made her much-anticipated AEW debut on Dynamite as she squared off against The Bunny in the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament qualifier. She eventually won that match to move to the main tourney. Moving on she became the AEW Women’s Champion and one of the mainstay names of the female roster.
