Controversies in professional wrestling often ruin the careers of promising superstars and Melina is an example of getting victimized of a certain situation. Just like Paige was harassed in the last decade due to the release of private content on social media, years before that false rumors were spread about the ex-WWE Diva which could have been proven life threatening for her.

In the mid-2010s, Melina entered the WWE Universe as a valet which was pretty obvious as women barely got a chance to wrestle, back then. She eventually entered an on-screen relationship with the top WWE Superstar Batista. Fans did know about that eventually brewing into an off-screen relationship, down the road. It also affected their personal life.

The two were only used to be friends in the locker room as Batista was still a married man, back then. But soon after the marriage was over, they got closer. They dated briefly afterward and rumors had it then it was their relationship that ended Batista’s marriage in the first place.

In recent times, a fan pointed out that rumor on Twitter. Melina noticed the comment and revealed how these rumors negatively affected her life, back then as she admittedly wanted to end her life,

“Did you know I attempted suicide back then? I never want to talk about it or getting raped bcuz I don’t want it to be all people see when they look at me. I’m more than what happened to me. I know whoever started the rumors didn’t care but these falsehoods ruined lives.”

Batista and Melina’s real-life issues led to the latter getting released by WWE after they had a heated altercation. Thus, the promising career of the female superstar was cut short before it could fully unravel. She did come back to the WWE in 2010 but things didn’t pan out well during her second stint in the company.

Keeping aside these controversies, Melina played a vital role in the WWE women’s/divas division during the mid-2000s, shortly after the era of Lita and Trish Stratus came to an end. Alongside talented names like Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, and Mickie James, she helped lead the female roster to a big extent.
