Almost one and a half months ago, Deonna Purrazzo became the new Impact Knockouts Champion and now she’s booked to go through her first major title defense. Former WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi arrived on Impact TV a few weeks ago and she quickly turned her attention to the champion. It appears that she will be getting the championship match opportunity, after all.
During the latest June 1 episode of Impact on AXS TV episode, Naomi now going by the name of Trinity called out Deonna Purrazzo following her victory over Savannah Evans. The champion obliged and said “Let’s dance” in response after being challenged to a title match at Slammiversary 2023 edition.

The face-off segment between the two was cut short when Evans, Gisele Shaw, and Jai Vidal attacked both women from behind. Deonna Purrazzo was about to fight back when she was struck from behind by Vidal with a purse to get knocked out. Trinity then started hitting back the heels by dispatching Vidal to the outside of the ring after dodging an attack with the same purse. However, Shaw eventually grabbed the purse and knocked out the newest member of Impact Wrestling.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Trinity set for Impact Slammiversary 2023
Former Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace eventually came to the ring to make the save but due to the numbers’ game catching up to her, she also suffered the same fate. Grace couldn’t pick up momentums as she could be on her way out from the Impact Wrestling promotion, anyway. Following the segment, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Trinity was made official for Impact Slammiversary 2023 scheduled on Saturday, July 15 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Back in mid-April, Impact Wrestling held its Rebellion pay-per-view and in the main event saw former Knockouts World Champions Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynne Grace battling it out for the vacant championship belt. It was the former WWE NXT Superstar who would walk away with the win to become a three-time champion with the same title.
After the title win, Deonna Purrazzo admittedly wants to break the longest-reign with the Knockouts Title, previously set by Impact Hall of Famer Gail Kim. It was on the May 4 episode of Impact TV that Trinity made her debut and quickly confronted the champion to kick off the ongoing feud.
