No matter whether he’s heel or babyface in the WWE, Brock Lesnar remains a top attraction even after a decade of his return to the company and its fanbase. He’s capable of drawing a ton of attention to himself whenever WWE books him in a match. The stakes often tend to get big when it comes to SummerSlam as this is considered to be his playground. Over the years, he has main-evented nine times in this particular show.

In the 2023 edition, even though Brock Lesnar lost to Cody Rhodes, everyone is still talking about him for the aftermath gestures to his opponent once the match was over. The expectation was that now that the feud with The American Nightmare is over, he’s set to go into a regular hiatus from the WWE which may not be the case.

Revealed: Brock Lesnar Set To Receive Farewell From WWE In 2025

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the bygone Summerslam match between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes. It was stated by the source that The Beast Incarnate may not be going into a longer time off unlike previous times as WWE already has him advertised for his next event.

“He’s advertised for Payback, so maybe that’s when he comes back. I was told he’ll be gone for a while, but not a long while. So, we’ll have to see what that means.”

Brock Lesnar praised by Cody Rhodes after Summerslam

After the clean pinfall loss against Cody, Brock Lesnar showed respect to Rhodes as he shook The American Nightmare’s hand, hugged him, and raised his arm. This was an apparent babyface turn for him but then again, he did it, completely on his own in an unscripted manner.

Speaking at the post-Summerslam press conference, Rhodes expressed his gratitude to Brock Lesnar for putting him over. He also expresses hope not to ever have any more encounters in the ring with the former Universal Champion. Cody also said that he looks up to Lesnar the same way his father Dusty Rhodes used to look up to Harley Race.

“When he’s gone, I think the world will realize what we’ve got is a frickin’ unicorn. Just a very unique, once-in-a-lifetime individual. I thought a lot about Brock, looking at him tonight, and it reminded me of how my dad looked at Harley Race. And I thought ‘Maybe I’ve got my Harley Race.’”
