Sasha Banks is regarded as not only one of the most highly accomplished WWE Superstars of all time but also one of the most outstanding female professional wrestlers ever to have stepped into the squared circle. Being one of the Four-Horsewomen members, she was obviously assumed to be a WWE lifer until a rift with WWE officials came into play, last year.
Since Sasha Banks was a one-of-a-kind talent, her sudden departure from WWE Raw during a live TV episode was on top of the pro-wrestling news for a major part of last year. This, in turn, triggered a flurry of speculations and rumors.
Moving on, the multi-time WWE Women’s Champion resurfaced in public as she resumed her pro-wrestling career in NJPW, where she is competing under the name of Mercedes Mone, to cement her status as a legend in this business. However, things weren’t easy for her when she simply opted for a WWE exit to get rid of the hectic schedule of the company apart from creative differences.
“You Don’t Know The Story”, Sasha Banks On Her Sudden WWE Departure
While speaking on her YouTube channel, Sasha Banks talked about her life after the WWE departure. Apparently, it simply felt like death as it was hard to cope with things,
“This whole time that I’ve been gone from the WWE, I’ve been really struggling [with] what’s next. What am I going to do in wrestling? Who am I? I’ve been a character for like 10 years in that company, so it felt like such a death. It’s just been such a long journey trying to figure out who I am after the WWE and now it’s finally coming together.”

Sasha Banks made her NJPW debut in January 2023
After staying away from public eyes for nearly eight months, Sasha Banks made an impressive debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Japan, where she appeared with the charismatic “The CEO” Mercedes Mone gimmick. This happened after KAIRI’s successful title defense against Tam Nakano, much to the delight of her fans who were eagerly anticipating her arrival.
Moving on at the NJPW Battle At The Valley PPV, Sasha Banks eventually challenged KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship and emerged victorious to become the new champion in the promotion as well as the new face. Down the road, she hopes to create magic with more talents from the Japan-based company.
