One of the most trusted shoulders of the WWE, Charlotte Flair had been on a hiatus since WrestleMania 39 Night One. On that night, Rhea Ripley defeated her in a brutal encounter to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion which marked her second singles title win at the grandest stage of them all and also made her the true Grand Slam Champion in the women’s division.
That title change seemed evident as Charlotte Flair was reportedly set to go into a hiatus, heading into Wrestlemania 39. Afterward, reports further confirmed that it would be for a while that we won’t be seeing the former SmackDown Women’s Champion in action on WWE TV. Despite this absence, she was picked by the Smackdown brand during the Draft.
It was previously reported that Charlotte Flair needed this time off from WWE programming as she would be participating in a body-building competition. While The Queen never admitted that directly in a conversation with Boardroom, she discussed this current absence following Wrestlemania 39 with the following comments,
“For me, I went from having never any off-days to getting injured last year after WrestleMania and being off for seven months, and then now off again for a couple weeks for something that I needed to take care of, so it’s a blessing and a curse. Like, no one wants to be injured, but having that first time off for that extended amount of time, I think was definitely healthy for my mindset.”

WWE-UFC merger won’t affect Charlotte Flair as a performer
There has been a big change in the WWE management after Wrestlemania 39 as Endeavor has become the majority of shareholder of the WWE brand causing a merger between WWE and UFC. While many speculate about the possible future of the company, Charlotte Flair isn’t worried, at all. Endeavor taking things over in the WWE won’t cause any changes to her performance,
“Maybe if I was brand new, but my job as a performer is just to make who’s behind the headphones and gorilla happy, and then the fans. I don’t really get wrapped up in what’s happening there, but the sale is a big deal. I’ll be interested to see what happens in the future with Endeavor.”
Last year after Wrestlemania Backlash in May, Charlotte Flair took an extended hiatus that lasted for eight months, her longest in the WWE, to date. At this point, there’s the seven-time Smackdown Women’s Champion is back and she’s also been drafted to the blue brand to get involved in the title picture, right away.
