Roman Reigns didn’t agree with John Cena’s Summerslam challenge as seen on this week’s Smackdown as the mega match is yet to be confirmed. Rather, he made a roast out of the returnee before proceeding to accept a challenge from Finn Balor for a future title match. The two faced off to end the blue brand episode of July 23rd. The fans in attendance had a major surprise once the show taping ended, right there.
The fans got to see a preview of the potential Summerslam 2021 title match, afterward. John Cena came out to feature in the dark segment of Smackdown, this week. He teamed up with The Mysterios (Dominik and Rey Mysterio) to defeat the team of Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Uso Twins – Jimmy and Jey Uso.

John Cena and Roman Reigns were part of a tag team match
John Cena and Roman Reigns did have a face-off in the match but they didn’t get physical as the latter escaped the scene. As The Tribal Chief left the match in the middle, it led to the babyface team getting the pinfall win on The Usos to get the win. Rey hit a 619 on a Uso while Cena performed an Attitude Adjustment to secure the three count on one-half of the tag team champions.
Apart from this dark match, two more such matches were in-store for the live fans in attendance from Cleveland, Ohio. WWE NXT Star Aliyah defeated The Way’s Indi Hartwell in a singles contest while Odyssey Jones defeated another member of The Way, Austin Theory in the other match. It’s expected that at least a couple of names from these two matches are likely to arrive on the main roster in a short time span.

Prior to these matches, Universal Champion Roman Reigns came out for the main event segment on SmackDown and asked the Cleveland crowd to acknowledge him. He even told the fans watching at home to acknowledge him. He then proceeded to address the challenge laid down by John Cena for Summerslam and putting up a nostalgia act at Money In The Bank 2021.
As you can see in the below-given video, Roman compared John Cena to Missionary Position due to the same boring gestures, every time he comes out. Roman also clarified that he won’t face him in the main event of SummerSlam 2021.
