John Cena is considered one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time if not the greatest of all time. The 16-time WWE world champion was the face of the company before Roman Reigns took things over in recent years. Moving into Hollywood, the veteran has become a part-time performer in the WWE who still remains one of the biggest attractions that WWE has to offer.
Despite him no longer being fully committed to the company, his loyalty to the WWE drags John Cena back to the WWE programming whenever the creative plans permit him. As reports have previously confirmed, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has agreed to return for a match at WrestleMania 39.

Kurt Angle shared his thoughts on The Cenation Leader potentially squaring off against the two-time US Champion at the upcoming premium live event during the latest edition of The Kurt Angle Show. The WWE Hall of Famer believes that facing Theory would bring on a huge challenge for him,
“I know John Cena is trying to get back at it, and Austin Theory would be a great match for him. He’d be great, great competition. He’d be a great, great test for John Cena, considering he’s an in-ring general.”
If Cena does perform at ‘Mania 2023 then it will be his first WrestleMania match since 2020 and his first singles televised match since SummerSlam 2021. The seeds for this match against Theory were planted on the June 27 2022 episode of RAW.
