The former WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens who is also a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently talked about winning the WWE Universal Championship five years ago.

It was the time when the authority was totally involved in the main event segments of Monday Night RAW. Seth Rollins was the guy that Authority hand picked two years ago and he was riding the stars. He already main evented Wrestlemania, he also won the World Championship.

Kevin Owens Looks Back At Winning The Universal Championship

But on that night when Kevin won the WWE Universal Championship, the authority had different plans. It was actually a fatal 4 way match to determine the new WWE Universal Championship which was vacated after the previous champion Finn Balor got injured. Four competitors were choosen via four no. 1 Contender matches. They were, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Big Cass and of course, Kevin Owens.

Big Cass was the first man to get eliminated. Next up was Roman Reigns whom Triple H knocked out with a Pedigree. The final battle was between Seth rollins and Owens. Seth was the authority guy whom Triple H betrayed and knocked out with a pedigree. Owens pinned him and won the WWE Universal Championship.

Kevin Owens who is a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke on Twitter where he talked about winning the WWE Universal Championship five years ago. He said;

“My wife reminded me this morning that five years ago today something pretty cool happened. Then I got on Twitter and I saw a lot of people were reminding me of what happened there, as well. A lot of people remember it very well. Man, the last five years have been a roller coaster.”

“The highs are great, but the lows, sometimes, are really hard to take for somebody who cares a lot, and who is very passionate about this, like I am. I’ve been so lucky. I’ve had a really great career.

“I’ve had my wife, my kids, and my parents — who are all fantastic at helping me navigate through this. I’ve been lucky to have a loyal following along me for that ride,” Owens said. And that’s you guys, today, reminding me of what happened five years ago when I won the Universal Title. I figured this was a good time to say thank you.”
