Last night, WWE has officially announced that Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Buddy Murphy, and Santana Garrett have been released from the company. Alongside the announcement, the company wished them luck in their future endeavors. While Strowman’s release shocked the pro-wrestling universe, the most, his fellow Raw superstar’s release from the company was no less.

Lana took to Twitter after her release and gave thanks to fans who supported her throughout her WWE career. She tweeted a statement and said she will never forget the fans. She also made references to various WWE characters she was a part of in the past few years while being paired up with multiple tag team partners.

“I will never forget the fans, and the love they showed me. Whether it was a tank, power-suits, flags, CRUSH, Rusev, 900 partners, weddings or tables: I tried to always entertain you, and you definitely elevated me. Thank you,” she wrote.

Lana’s husband, current AEW TNT Champion Miro (fka Rusev), took to Twitter to react to his wife’s release with an inevitable shot at the WWE.

“You can’t soar with the eagles if you’re hanging with the turkeys,” Miro tweeted.

Miro is someone who has received this kind of treatment from the WWE, over the years after getting released by the WWE, a little over a year ago, as part of roster cuts reportedly brought on due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to his release, the superstars belonging to Bulgaria worked for WWE for ten years under the name Rusev. He won the WWE United States Championship on three different occasions during his tenure with the company.

As for Lana, she was signed by WWE in 2013, spending most of her WWE tenure either managing or feuding with her husband, including the most notable angle where she left him for current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. Following Miro’s release and she broke up with Lashley, and entered the women’s tag team division, first teaming with Natalya and then with Naomi.

During this phase, her most notable angle during that time was a feud with Nia Jax, who put her through tables on RAW for several occasions. Lana’s last appearance on WWE programming occurred this past Monday Night on RAW where she lost with Naomi against the team of Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke.
