Mandy Rose was one of the brightest talents on NXT, the third brand of the WWE, and enjoyed a pretty good run in it. After multiple year’s dud-run on the main roster, she really hit the top of the run on NXT during her time on the brand under the supervision of Triple H. During her return to NXT, she became the third-longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion. It appears that it wasn’t supposed to be her first solo title win.
As noted above, Mandy Rose had become the top performer of NXT 2.0 as the reigning Women’s Champion with the title reign surpassing 400 days. There was a time many believed that the reign wasn’t going to end anytime soon. But things came crumbling down for her after she suddenly lost her title to Roxanne Perez back in December last year. A day later, she became an ex-employee of the WWE.
The reason for WWE firing her, made headlines and fans called it a double standard since the company let go of a talent who was one of the biggest assets of the NXT roster. They never had a problem with Mandy Rose posing only in belts in the past but then they released her for going non-PG in her FanTime profile. Plus, it also seems that they didn’t give any kind of warning to her before taking such a big decision to fire her.

Mandy Rose could’ve defeated Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35
Long before her return to NXT, Mandy Rose was supposed to become a champion by beating a top superstar on the roster. At WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair made history by headlining the Show of Shows for the first time. Flair and Rousey both put their titles on the line for the match. It was Becky Lynch who walked away with both belts after the match.
Former WWE writer Dave Schilling was re-watching the grand event and tweeting some interesting comments. In one of his tweets, Dave revealed that Mandy Rose was originally pitched to defeat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35 before WWE scrapped the plan and went forward with a Winner Takes All match with both the women’s titles on the line.
“The SmackDown women’s title was supposed to be won by Mandy Rose at this WrestleMania. Instead, we got this famous main event. At no point did Nia Jax figure into this title match. Nor did I ever see her again after this night. Hope she’s doing well,” Dave wrote.
Back in 2019, Mandy Rose was still in the Fire n Desire group with Sonya Deville. Moving on, she got involved in a romantic angle with Otis and then a bitter feud with Deville to establish herself as a singles performer.
