Maria Kanellis has spent more than 15 years in the professional wrestling industry and she’s seen it all. She has been part of the top 5 promotions of the circuit which itself is a big achievement despite the fact that she was never considered a bonafide wrestler. But the fact is that she managed to survive the tough competition.
Being a popular superstar, Maria Kanellis mostly stays under the spotlight of the fans. While some of them obviously support her, there’s this negative part of the fanbase who feel extremely happy by blasting the wrestlers for literally anything they could discover.

Apparently, Maria Kanellis dealt with some bitter remarks from the fans when she was pregnant. She and her husband held the 24/7 Championship while the former was pregnant but still dared to appear on WWE TV. Speaking to Steve Fall on Ten Count, the AEW talent revealed how she was harassed by fans after she headed on to a hiatus due to pregnancy reasons.

Maria Kanellis had some bitter experience during her second pregnancy
“During that time when I was having so many problems of like getting into the mode of motherhood, and like seeing all the comments of like, ‘oh your husband is just this and you’re just that and how dare you have a kid!’ and saying things about my daughter,” Maria Kanellis revealed that she even received death threats during that timespan.
“She was like a couple days old and I’m getting like death threats… It’s like, come on people, it’s wrestling, and there’s plenty of other talented people out there that can fulfill that need for you. It’s just right now, I gotta take some time for me and my family.”
It was in the middle of 2019 with Paul Heyman being in charge of Monday Night Raw that Maria Kanellis got involved in a controversial pregnancy angle on TV. While the storyline garnered attention from fans, it was ultimately scrapped as she was scheduled for time off in due course due to pregnancy.
Eventually, that time-off never came to an end as WWE released Mike and Maria Kanellis from their contract amid the COVID-19 budget cuts in early 2020. The two then shortly remained with the ROH promotion before heading to IMPACT Wrestling. After that stint came to an end, AEW promotion signed these two alongside Matt Taven to bring The Kingdom faction under their banner.
