Back on April 15 of last year, Maria Kanellis was released from the WWE, amid all the COVID-19 related budget cuts. For the second time in her career, she was let go from the biggest professional wrestling promotion and it ended on a bitter note. In several interviews, the final Playboy Cover girl from the WWE roster had talked about those bad experiences with the Vince McMahon-owned brand.
But it appears that Maria Kanellis hasn’t lost all contact with people within the WWE. Paul Heyman is one of those names who’s been an inspiration for the former WWE talent. Heyman is also involved with other projects outside of Vince McMahon’s company and he continues working with the gorgeous female superstar.

Oral Sessions Podcast hosted by Renee Paquette (fka Renee Young in WWE) recently spoke to Maria Kanellis about several topics, including her affiliation with Paul Heyman. They obviously had a partnership in the WWE especially when Heyman was appointed as the head of the creative team but that didn’t end at all as Kanellis was fired by WWE.

Maria Kanellis spoke about veteran Paul Heyman
“It’s funny because I still work with him,” Maria Kanellis said. “I ask him stuff. I want his feedback, I want to know what he thinks. When I started in wrestling, I worked originally down in Ohio Valley Wrestling.
Paul was writing the show. He invited me to come early and read the script and see what he had planned out for other people. I was dating (CM) Punk at the time, so it was both of them that I was literally getting an education on wrestling and the history of wrestling. Every part of wrestling, I was learning from both of them.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
It’ll be interesting to see whether Paul Heyman brings Maria Kanellis to one of his photoshoots to keep the affiliation ongoing with one of the most popular female talents of the Ruthless Aggression Era of the WWE. But for the time being, the two continue to collaborate in outside projects, keeping their status low. While Heyman continues to be with the WWE, working for Roman Reigns, Kanellis alongside her husband will be staying under the Ring of Honor promotion.
