Money in the Bank 2022 edition is going to be something special for the WWE Universe. From last year onwards, the company decided to upscale the event. This particular show was the first premium live event following the COVID-19 pandemic to be hosted with the fans. This year, the event will take place in a stadium which indicates that WWE wants this event to be their fifth-biggest WWE Network Specials after their traditional Big-Four events.
Additionally, WWE has already been able to raise curiosity around Money in the Bank 2022 by airing the latest promo around it. Over on WrestleMania Backlash and the next night on Monday Night Raw, an ad aired featuring Cody Rhodes where the top Raw Superstars stated that the winners of the MITB briefcases would earn title shots at WrestleMania. Now, this is something that entirely turns the concept of being able to cash in the contract at any time and any place.

Follow-up reports claimed that many WWE employees were as surprised by the ad as the fans were with the Money in the Bank 2022 ad. The event has a special place in WWE calendar and the best thing about it is the cash-in process which takes the fans by shock. With a Wrestlemania main-event opportunity, that surprise element will be diminished.
Money in the Bank 2022 forces WWE to split up their world titles
Dave Meltzer talked about the potential change to the latest Money in the Bank 2022 stipulation on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. The first step towards the change would be to have two separate world champions on Raw and Smackdown. If the MITB implication sticks then we’d have one more contender for the world title in the form of the Royal Rumble 2023 winner.
“In theory, on July the 2nd, we will have two contenders for WrestleMania the next April already done. You know, a men’s and women’s contender,” Meltzer broke down the current situation around Money in the Bank 2022.
“And, if the Royal Rumble remains what it is, that would tell you that there’s going to be championship matches, both men’s and women’s… There’s only one men’s title, but I guess that means maybe there will be a second men’s title by the time we’re at WrestleMania, which doesn’t surprise me. Everyone knew that it was a matter of time before they went back to two.”
Time will tell on how things will work out for Money in the Bank 2022 and whether it would indeed have a major change in the winning stipulations. For the time being, the fans are excited to have another gimmick-based event on the card and that’s Hell in a Cell 2022 on June 5th.
Money in the Bank 2022 is scheduled to take place on July 2nd at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Top superstars like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, Bobby Lashley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Drew McIntyre are all listed to be there as they will find a foothold for the very next event in line, Summerslam.
