For weeks now, rumors are swirling on the internet over one Smackdown star putting her Money in the Bank 2023 secured spot on the line. Bayley was announced to be that name to be engaged in a brawl with Shotzi with the former’s earned spot at the opportunistic ladder match. The contest between these two was originally scheduled to go down, last week.
But without any definite reason dictated, this match was scrapped from the June 23 episode. Rather, Bayley vs. Shotzi took place on this week’s Smackdown with the stipulation that if Shotzi could pull off the win then she would also be able to grab the spot reserved for Bayley in the Women’s Money in the Bank 2023 ladder match.

With IYO SKY standing in her corner, Damage CTRL took advantage of the numbers game. SKY put Bayley’s foot on the bottom rope in order to stop a pinfall attempt. As Shotzi focused on taking out SKY, the self-proclaimed Role Model raked her eyes before finally planting her with the Rose Plant move to pick up the win and thereby retain her Money in the Bank ladder match spot.

Things got worse for Shotzi after the Money in the Bank 2023 qualifier. Shotzi confronted the Damage CTRL members in the backstage area to declare that she wasn’t done with Bayley yet. As a mistake, she tried to take them both out but using the numbers game, she was laid out. In addition, Shotzi’s hair was also cut by the heel duo.
After some time Bayley tweeted saying “Goodnight everyone! See ya at #MITB tomorrow night!” while lying down with Shotzi’s hair. It’s yet to be seen if her action will force Shotzi to interfere in the Women’s Money in the Bank 2023 ladder match and cost her the opportunity in the UK PPV event.
