In the opening match of WWE SummerSlam 2022 Premium Live Event, Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to retain her WWE RAW Women’s Championship. Belair hit a Spanish Fly followed by her KOD finisher to seek redemption from SummerSlam 2021 in a match that received praise from the fans and critics. After the match, both women showed respect to each other by hugging it out in the ring.
This was apparently a babyface turn by Becky Lynch after former Women’s Champion Bayley then made her return from injury and also brought former NXT Superstar Dakota Kai and former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai (now going by the name of IYO SKY) to confront the EST of WWE. Becky then ran back into the ring to prohibit any sort of attack on the reigning champion despite her suffering an injury.
As confirmed on Raw, Becky Lynch suffered a separated shoulder during her match against Belair. As per the reports of Fightful Select, this happened early into the bout as speculated by many since she was favoring her right shoulder throughout the match. The source noted that the injury happened after Belair hit a Glam Slam on her and perhaps botched it.

Becky Lynch continued her match at SummerSlam despite injury
After this, Becky Lynch had to roll out of the ring to put her shoulder back into place and continue the match for the next 16 minutes. Apart from confirming the injury, Fightful also added that the injury caused creative changes to a certain level. Although nothing specific was mentioned in this regard.
By the end of Saturday’s SummerSlam match, Becky Lynch surprisingly provided backup to Bianca Belair who was supposed to be attacked by the returning heel trio of Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY. However, it did seem that it was the segment planned all along. Whatever next was in-store could be on hold for the foreseeable future on Raw until the former Raw Women’s Champion makes her return to action.
The source also stated that they couldn’t give a timetable on Becky Lynch’s eventual return or how severe the injury is. At this point, she stands a 50/50 chance whether or not to have surgery to fix the problems. The top superstar appeared on Raw to confirm her separate shoulder and said that she finished the match rather than giving up on herself. But it was never noted on the length of her upcoming timespan.
