The tournament for the new World Heavyweight Championship to be crowned at Night of Champions 2023 began on WWE Raw, this week. After the revelation of the 2 participants across Raw and Smackdown, WWE declared the Triple Threat matches set for Raw to determine the semifinal from the red brand in the main event of the May 8 episode.
Cody Rhodes kicked off the show and announced the lineups for the World Heavyweight Championship which were as followed: Cody Rhodes vs. Finn Balor vs. The Miz and Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Damian Priest.
In the first qualifier, Seth Rollins defeated Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Triple Threat Match to advance to the Semi-Finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament and get one step closer to Night of Champions 2023.

In the second qualifier, Finn Balor defeated The Miz and Cody Rhodes in a Triple Threat Match to advance to the Semi-Finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament. During the finishing moments of the match, Cody also had Miz pinned when Brock Lesnar pulled Cody out of the ring and hit him with an F5. This allowed Finn to hit his finisher on Miz and win the match and join Rollins in the semi-final.
Then in the main event of Raw, Seth Rollins defeated Finn Balor to advance to the Finals of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament at Night of Champions 2023. Thus, the winner from the Raw side has been picked and he now awaits a name from Smackdown to join him in the Finale.

Speaking of Smackdown, two triple threat matches have been booked on the show and the lineups are – AJ Styles vs. Edge vs. Rey Mysterio and Bobby Lashley vs. Sheamus vs. United States Champion Austin Theory. Winners from these two matches will battle in the main event which is the Semi-Finale to determine the finalist who will join Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2023 in the Title Match.
WWE Night of Champions 2023 PLE Match Card
The Night of Champions 2023 WWE Premium Live Event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This will be the first Saudi show of the year and the officially announced match card for the night is as follows:
