The New Day surprised WWE fans by clinching the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Deadline 2022. They first appeared on the December 6 episode of WWE NXT to confront NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly.
After getting engaged in a war of words, it didn’t take much time to set up the massive clash at NXT Deadline 2022 for the tag team titles. The four superstars literally stole the show at the final PLE of the year and after all said and done, it was The New Day who scored the pinfall over Wilson and Prince to win the inaugural NXT tag team titles. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods hit the modified Midnight Hour move on Wilson to get the win.

This win at NXT Deadline 2022 has certainly left the WWE fans at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, watching all over the world with joy. But the third New Day member, Big E, was arguably the most delighted one. Following the title match win, the former WWE Champion took to Twitter and declared the following in honor of his two besties,
“What an absurdly talented pair of partners! I won the wrestling lottery when I got to team with these two. Massive congrats, my brothers! Love y’all to death.”

Kofi Kingston made history at NXT Deadline 2022
In interesting statistics from NXT Deadline 2022, The New Day has now become Triple Crown Champions in the Tag Team Division as they have won tag titles on Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. Plus, Kofi Kingston has made history by clinching the most Tag Team Title win in WWE history: 15.
The New Day is an overall 11-time Tag Team Champions in WWE but Kofi Kingston is a 14-time Tag Team Champion as he captured the Tag Titles with other partners except for Woods and Big E. WWE Hall of Famer Edge and Kofi were tied for the record of most Tag Team Title wins in WWF/E history standing at 14. These stats are counted only in the history of WWE excluding other companies.
WWE Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels addressed The New Day’s future status in the WWE during the NXT Deadline post-show media press conference. He revealed that they aren’t sure what The New Day will be doing in NXT as the plans are yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, the new Tag Team Champions may represent NXT on their home brand of Smackdown in the coming weeks.
