NXT No Mercy 2023 is the next premium live event stop for the WWE in its calendar set for later this month. After a gap of almost six years, the event is returning as a WWE Network Specials under WWE’s third brand and two of the first matches for the show have been announced during the latest episode of NXT.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes announced on the show that a new challenger his title will be determined during the September 12 episode of NXT. Wes Lee and Ilja Dragunov will compete in this number-one contender’s match and the winner will face him for the title at NXT No Mercy 2023.

During the last NXT PLE, The Great American Bash, Hayes successfully defeated Lee to retain his title. Prior to that, Hayes also defeated Ilja to retain but it appears a rematch will go down in the main event of NXT No Mercy 2023. Hayes won the title back at NXT Stand & Deliver in April of this year from Bron Breakker and proved himself to be a string champion.

NXT No Mercy 2023: Dominik to defend North American Title

Dominik Mysterio will also go through his next title defense with the North American Championship at the NXT No Mercy 2023 event. During this Wednesday’s episode of WWE NXT, Mustafa Ali defeated Dragon Lee in a number-one contender’s match with Dominik serving as the special guest referee.

Heading into the match, it was no secret that he didn’t want Lee to be his opponent and he did a fast count to allow Ali to win the match with a roll-up. As a result, Ali will now face Dominik in one of the big matches for NXT No Mercy 2023.

Dominik has been the NXT North American Champion since defeating Wes Lee on the July 18 episode of NXT. Even before winning the belt, the Mysterio Jr. has been appearing regularly on NXT. His last title defense was against Lee on the August 8 episode of NXT.

NXT No Mercy 2023 premium live event is scheduled to air, live on Peacock and WWE Network from the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California on Saturday, September 30. The last time this event took place was in October 2017 as a Raw brand-exclusive show.
