Over the past few months, Persia Pirotta was one of the most entertaining characters on the NXT 2.0 TV program. Since the NXT brand was revamped in late 2021, she was one of those female characters who was utilized to bring on the edginess vibes like old-school WWE programs.
After all, we rarely saw some make-out scene on NXT TV like the ones we’ve seen between Persia Pirotta and her on-scree boyfriend Duke Hudson. That romantic angle was supposed to be dragged but the WWE management decided that they no longer needed Pirotta. Hence, she and nine other NXT 2.0 stars were released from their contracts, last month.
Persia Pirotta Believes WWE NXT Release Will Be Positive In A Situation
Recently, Persia Pirotta spoke to Fightful Select for the first time since her WWE release and opened up about the plans that WWE had for her and her tag team partner, Indi Hartwell on the NXT 2.0 brand.
Before Indi Hartwell left Australia for WWE a few years back, Melbourne Championship Wrestling held a storyline where Persia Pirotta turned on Indi. That angle was about to play out on NXT TV, as well after Pirotta pitched the angle to NXT officials and it was well-received well.

Persia Pirotta was about to recreate an indie storyline on NXT TV
The idea was that the two used to be best friends in Australia but Indi left Pirotta behind to chase bigger dreams. Things were going well as Duke Hudson and Dexter Lumis were also added to the program but it never had a pay-off.
“I was going to turn on Indi, and we were going to run through the same story we did at MCW. Even to the point where I was showing them what we did in Melbourne, and I had told them the history of our friendship. I had meetings like I told them everything and that this story writes itself.
We literally did it in Australia, and what the ultimate screw-over for us was to meant to be going within three months of each other; she gets it, and I get screwed for two years,” Persia Pirotta stated.
In recent interviews, Persia Pirotta made it clear that she won’t allow this WWE release to break her, at all. The former NXT Superstar, real name Steph De Lander will reportedly be a free agent in less than 30 days. The XPW wrestling event on June 25 will be her first post-WWE appearance.
