Becky Lynch is the current WWE RAW Women’s Champion going into Survivor Series. She is the title-holder from the Women’s Division of the red brand since Wrestlemania 35.
After successfully defending the title against Sasha Banks at Clash Of Champions and Hell in a Cell, she is without any opponent for the past several weeks. As of now, there’d be no upcoming title defense for her. Vince McMahon hosted a special meeting for stars
WWE placed Becky Lynch in a champion vs champion vs champion match for Survivor Series where she faces the NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and the SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley at the same time. So the question remains what could be next for her and the title that she made prestigious upon winning it in the historic women’s main event at WrestleMania 35.
No challenger has stepped up to face The Man for her title, as of now. But Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer noted that WWE has a storyline as well as an opponent set for her in the future. Dave Meltzer noted that Asuka is the name who will challenge Becky Lynch for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
Huge Survivor Series matches planned
Natalya picked up a submission win over Asuka via the Sharpshooter on this week’s RAW. It would lead some people to believe that Asuka isn’t getting a title shot. But Meltzer noted that WWE’s plan still remains the same to eventually pair The Man against The Empress Of Tomorrow,
“That still is the plan, that still is the plan. It’s not like it was something they were gonna do this week or this month. It was something that they were gonna do later. By that time everyone’s gonna forget about this finish.” (courtesy ringsidenews.com)
It will be interesting to see when WWE would eventually book the much-anticipated Asuka vs. Becky Lynch bout. Perhaps Natalya and Charlotte’s win over her was a setup to give these two the women’s tag team championships. This would free up Asuka to chase the singles title, once again. But that won’t likely happen until and unless Survivor Series 2019 passes by.
