WWE made Drew McIntyre literally untouchable since the Royal Rumble win in 2020. He went on to defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at the main event of Wrestlemania. This led him to carry the load on Monday Night Raw during the pandemic era, moving forward.
In the entire 2020, Drew McIntyre suffered only two clean pinfall losses. The first one came at the hands of Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell and the second one came at Survivor Series against Roman Reigns in a Champion vs. Champion matchup. Fans hoped him to recapture the WWE Championship, earlier this year which wasn’t the case.

Bobby Lashley is the reigning champion on Raw who defeated Drew McIntyre on multiple occasions to retain his title. Things got worse for the Scottish Warrior in recent times as she suffered a series of losses. He was first pinned by Damian Priest in a United States Title match. Then he lost against Sheamus in a number-one contender’s match for that title.

WWE is keeping options open for Drew McIntyre
A post-match beatdown on Sheamus was delivered by him as a lot of fans thought this was a sign of a heel turn for Drew McIntyre. At this point, WWE is keeping their options open for the top Raw Superstar. Ringside News provided an update regarding him and learned that the creative team is willing to keep all the options open.
A tenured member of the creative team told the source that “all options are open” with Drew McIntyre. This includes “RAW, Smackdown. Heel, babyface.” It was explicitly noted that “Vince and Bruce may know,” the future plans but that information is not readily available internally. This means chances are there that he could be drafted to Smackdown in October, proving the speculations true.

The source also confirmed that the policy is still in place where most Superstars are unaware about their own creative direction unless the head of the creative team Bruce Prichard gives the green light to share. “It’s not an across-the-board mandate, but for the most part, yes,” a source stated that the policy is still intact. It was not noted whether Drew McIntyre has any idea about his future, either.
