As reported earlier, WWE had plans to bring back legendary Kurt Angle on their television on the Road to Wrestlemania 38. This is that time of the year when legends showing up on TV could be a regular thing to make things exciting for the fans. The Master of Ankle Lock returning was such a news but unfortunately, that’s not happening.

Last week on “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, the WWE Hall Of Famer mentioned how WWE reached out to him to ensure that he would be back on TV for the “next month or so.” The capacity of his return wasn’t stated but he said that he was excited to see what was planned for him. He was present, backstage at the Royal Rumble in St. Louis during the late January weekend program.

On the latest edition of his podcast, Kurt Angle provided clarification on the update stating that whatever WWE had planned for him has been scrapped. Therefore, the much-anticipated return isn’t happening, at least for now. The veteran wrestler also made it clear that he did not sign a contract and he was only going to be back for a short period of time.

Kurt Angele doesn’t have a deal with WWE

“I went to the Royal Rumble. The WWE wanted me to do a short program that they ended up canceling at the the very last moment, but we went to the Rumble, my wife and I.

I also did some documentary interviews the day before, a photo op with the fans, but I want to make it clear I am in no way signed to WWE,” Kurt Angle disclosed.

“They were going to sign me anyway. It was going to be a 3-week program. It got canceled, but you know, my obligation is to do the show, the Kurt Angle Show, and that’s it.”

Kurt Angle was present during the Royal Rumble premium live event who was also rumored to appear in the Rumble match. But instead, he took part in interviews for documentary projects, as well as a Friday meet and greet session before the Saturday night show.

After losing the retirement match at WrestleMania 35 to Baron Corbin, Kurt Angle was released by WWE in April of 2020 and hasn’t been with the company, since then.
