Wrestlemania 38 season has been kicked off with the 2022 Royal Rumble premium live event, this past Saturday night. A number of mammoth returns were there in the Women’s Rumble match which included Hall of Famers and former champions.

One of them, Lita has already been booked for the elimination Chamber PPV event, later this month while another one’s return is reportedly in talks.

On the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the host, Kurt Angle revealed that he will be coming back to the WWE in time for the build-up to WrestleMania 38. He was there during this past weekend’s Royal Rumble with Shelton Benjamin and teased that he will be in the WWE for the “next month or so.”

“I did [receive a call] from WWE and they want me to be involved in the show for the next month or so,” Angle mentioned regarding his return on WWE TV within Wrestlemania 38. “I’m really excited about it, so we’ll see what’s in store for me.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

Former champion booked for WWE Wrestlemania 38

During a previous episode of the podcast, Angle teased possibly coming out of retirement and wrestling in a few matches since he’s in much better shape, these days. It’s unclear what Angle will be doing during the lead-up to WrestleMania 38. At this point, his WrestleMania 19 opponent Brock Lesnar is confirmed to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns following his Royal Rumble win which is also the only confirmed match for the Biggest Event of the Year.

After retiring at WrestleMania 35 in a loss to Baron Corbin, Angle acted as a backstage producer for sometimes but he was released by WWE back in April of 2020 and hasn’t been seen with the company since. He was apparently booked to introduce Riddle for his debut on the main roster but that never happened.

He was admittedly offered several roles with AEW but he never appeared with the company and will make his return on-screen for WWE shortly within Wrestlemania 38. At this point, his role is tough to predict as it seems that WWE officials are still going through discussions about it. It’s also unclear whether he will be competing in a match at the PPV event.
