WWE Backlash 2023 will be a historic event from the company’s perspective as they are taking it outside the USA territory. It will be hosted from Puerto Rico marking the first PPV event from WWE in nearly 18 years. The last time a special event was held in that region was in 2005 in the form of the New Year’s Revolution, a night that was headlined by an Elimination Chamber WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match.
Now that WWE Backlash 2023 is coming back to Puerto Rico, several native land members from the WWE roster will be getting the opportunities to shine in front of their friends and families. Celebrity Bad Bunny was selected to be the host of the show. Additionally, he was booked to participate in a Street Fight against another hometown boy, Damian Priest.

Getting the chance to entertain the audience in Puerto Rico, Vega believes that it will be the biggest match of her career.
On a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the 2021 Queen’s Crown winner further detailed the emotions running through her, heading into WWE Backlash 2023. Dealing with the pressure before the high-profile title match is very much tough to deal with, but she believes that it could eventually work in her favor,
“The levels of pressure is, I think, higher than it’s ever been. But, it’s a good thing because it kind of gets me in the right frame of mind for something like this because we all know Rhea, we all know what she’s done, and what she’s capable of, and I think pressure works in my favor at this point.”

Zelina Vega received advice from legends ahead of WWE Backlash 2023
Proceeding in the conversation, Zelina Vega expressed excitement ahead of WWE Backlash 2023 as she understands the magnitude of the situation. Not only, she will be going after the title from the blue brand but she will also be representing the Puerto Ricans against The Nightmare. Regarding this, she had received a bit of advice from two WWE Hall of Famers, Rey Mysterio, and JBL, as noted below,
“Something that Rey [Mysterio] said — we just did ‘The Bump’ and he had said, ‘If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen, but there’s going to be other opportunities,’ but it comes down to taking in the moment — and that’s also what JBL said — taking in the moment, taking a picture in your mind, and remembering it because this is the biggest match of my career and I can’t let it go by in auto-pilot.”
WWE Backlash 2023 takes place this weekend, on May 6 in San Juan, Puerto Rico which will be the first time that Zelina Vega will be competing for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She’s a former Queen’s Crown and one-time Women’s tag team championship winner.
