Nothing lasts forever in the WWE be it The Undertaker’s greatest pro-wrestling Wrestlemania streak or Asuka’s more than two-year-long streak. Coming to the main roster from the greatest-ever NXT run in history, the latter was portrayed as an unstoppable force in her heyday in the company from 2015 to 2017. But shortly after her streak came to an end.

Charlotte Flair is the benchmark figure that WWE has to offer from their female roster and she was the one chosen to break Asuka’s undefeated streak. The Queen had experienced a lot of monumental moments in her wrestling career, but defeating the former longest-reigning women’s champion for the first time in the WWE could top all of that.

Charlotte Flair defeating Asuka at Wrestlemania was a special moment for WWE

Fans may haven’t liked it but breaking the undefeated streak of Asuka at WrestleMania 34 helped Charlotte Flair to elevate herself to the next level. During his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, the former WWE Producer and WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg spoke about the company putting an end to Asuka’s undefeated streak. It was not only time to put an end to it, but to deliver Charlotte Flair with a special moment in her career.

“If you’re gonna beat Asuka, who you gonna give that carrot to? Because she’s undefeated and so somebody who beats her, you better be looking to do something with and of course, we were looking to do something with Charlotte always, and so, that goes back and forth, and you’ll hear ideas for each to go over, and the bottom line is you look at the roster and go, hey, on the other side of this, who’s better as a champion? Who has more people to work with?”

Interestingly though after defeating Asuka at the Show of Shows, Flair was defeated at the post-Mania episode of Smackdown for her title by the then Money in the Bank contract holder Carmella, a move that kept the fans buzzing for months. However, Flair always found a way to be in the title picture and take forward her title reign count to 14.
