As per the confirmations from WWE, Hall Of Famer Goldberg will challenge Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam 2021 for the WWE Championship. That being said, the rumored comeback of Brock Lesnar to challenge The Dominator in a dream bout won’t be happening on August 21st. WWE Universe must have been disappointed with this news.

It appears that the WWE Officials have all the good reasons to push back that match as they want another mega feud to happen in WWE programming, sooner than later. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE isn’t bringing Brock Lesnar back for a match against Bobby Lashley because they rather want to do a Brock Lesnar – Roman Reigns program again.

This renewed program is anticipated via a report, a few weeks ago. Also, WWE Officials don’t want Lesnar to look weak after suffering a loss to Bobby Lashley after the comeback. Before going into the hiatus, The Beast Incarnate lost to Drew McIntyre, meaning that he would have suffered two big losses in a row which shouldn’t happen to a well-protected Superstar like him.

Bobby Lashley slated for a showdown against Goldberg

“The Lesnar match was talked about a lot but constantly denied. The feeling was that Lesnar isn’t coming back for a number of shows right now, so he’d have to lose.

And those in the Reigns camp see Reigns vs. Lesnar with the Heyman history as a big program not to be weakened by Lesnar doing a job or doing a non-finish with Lashley right now,” the source informed.

That being said, it makes sense why WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg has been booked for SummerSlam 2021. The reported plan for the Biggest Event of the Summer is for the former WCW franchise to feature in a WWE Title match that finishes up his annual match quota of 2021. Bobby Lashley vs. Goldberg will also serve as a brand new lineup that the fans haven’t witnessed in the past.

Goldberg revealed in a November 2020 interview that he still has a WWE contract that will force him to perform in two matches per year. That deal will be intact till next year. So SummerSlam is going to be his second match of 2021 as he lost to the former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view back in January.
