Reason Why Smackdown Battle Royal Had A Controversial Finish Last Week? 1

On last week’s main event of Smackdown, we have witnessed a battle royal to determine the number one contender for the WWE championship. AJ Styles and Luke Harper was the last two standing in the ring. But, no definite winner was crowned since both of them landed on the floor at the same time.

The match ended in a controversy leading to a chaos during the end. Daniel Bryan ran down to the ring to ensure that we will get a number one contender, this week. A singles contest between Harper and Styles was announced with the winner possibly facing Bray Wyatt for the WWE championship at Wrestlemania.

Rumours suggested that WWE has originally decided Luke Harper to win the bout and then face his former mentor for the WWE championship. But, Harper and Styles botching moves created a headache for the show-runners. This is why the general manager ran down to the ring to keep things under control.

Going in total contrast, cagesideseats.com reported that the controversial finish was part of the creative planning on Smackdown. The show writers have not come up to the conclusion as who would be the number one contender and face Wyatt for the championship. Hence, they wanted to wait some more before deciding something concrete.

Orton vs. Wyatt at Wrestlemania is something that is being teased on television for months but no one can foresee when this one would actually happen. This is due to the variety of bookings on the show. It can turn out that eventually, we get a triple threat match among Wyatt, Harper, and Orton.
Meanwhile, Mick Foley was not pleased to see Smackdown show-runners not using the instant replay technique to come to a proper conclusion to the match. He declared on twitter that he and Stephanie would definitely go for the other option to keep the brand rivalry intact.
