Becky Lynch dropped the Smackdown women’s championship at WWE TLC. As much as the fans have hated to see it, the inevitable happened potentially eyeing a bigger picture in due course. Asuka winning her maiden championship on the main roster was not a bad move, either. At least, the crowd did not serenade her with boos that Charlotte Flair would have got after picking up the title for the eighth time.

But currently, the hottest superstar in the WWE is Becky Lynch. She is literally earning cheers in each of the moves be it on the WWE programming or outside it. She has to deal with a face concussion ever since Survivor Series PPV. Then she came back to in-ring competition at TLC only to drop the title to Asuka. Some of the fans do believe that WWE failed to use The Man to her full potential. She could have had a longer championship run.
After all, the push towards her has finally arrived after a long wait of almost three years. They should have given her a chance to cement her legacy with the title. There was no lack of support for her either. Rather, the WWE Universe was giving her cheers more than anybody on the roster. So why would they take the title away from Becky Lynch so early?

Here’s come the significance of Royal Rumble. Being the champion, Becky Lynch can’t compete in the battle royal match. Winning this particular match is the only way that she can claim the dream match against Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 35. Both these women reside on different rosters. So the only way to make this match possible is to let one of them winning the Royal Rumble match and challenge the other one.
John Cena’s reaction to Becky Lynch
WWE has already booked her in a title match at Royal Rumble against Asuka. But The Empress of Tomorrow should not drop the title at the earliest. Once Becky Lynch loses the title opportunity, she can enter the Royal Rumble match for women superstars to pave an alternate way to Wrestlemania 35.
Ronda Rousey is not likely to drop the belt until Wrestlemania. Hence Becky Lynch remains the only option who has to win the Royal Rumble match. The situation would be similar to that of last year. Asuka won the match to challenge Charlotte Flair for the women’s championship producing another dream match.

Speaking of Charlotte Flair leads us to another thought where some of the fans might question why not the Flair Girl as the Royal Rumble winner. This lady already had a match with Ronda Rousey that ended in a DQ way setting up an automatic rematch. She does not have to win the Rumble match separately for this. Plus, a fan backlash might start complaining WWE is handing everything to the second generation athlete.
So Becky Lynch remains the most viable option to win the prestigious over the top rope brawl to be hosted in 2019. WWE creative can actually justify their actions from TLC to switch the title. The audience will be happy as well as we will go one step closer to a Wrestlemania main event.
